Once Upon A Reading Crisis
This zine was made using digital tools, lino printed features and overlayed texture.
Reading is a powerful ability, however, 27% of students (11) were below expected reading levels in 2024. 7.1 million adults in the UK are functionally illiterate. 64% of children (8-18) do not read in their free time - the highest recorded level since 2005.
The purpose of this zine is to educate the general public about this reading crisis, using a combination of narrative elements, accessible information, and charity support. This zine guides people to becoming confident readers, helping to reverse the impact of the crisis.
